Reservoir Neuroscience, a company based in Emeryville, California, that focuses on developing new therapies for age-related neurodegeneration, has successfully closed a $4 million financing round.
Kizoo Technology Capital spearheaded the funding round, with additional support from previous investors R42 Fund and Healthspan Ventures. In conjunction with this financial backing, Patrick Burgermeister, a Partner at Kizoo Technology Capital, has joined Reservoir Neuroscience's board.
The primary goal of utilizing these funds is to advance the development of Reservoir Neuroscience's innovative class of drug compounds. These compounds are specifically designed to restore the health of the brain's blood vessels, aiming to rejuvenate the aging brain.
Reservoir Neuroscience, led by co-founders Aaron Friedman and Vlad Senatorov, is an early-stage biotech company supported by venture capital. Their focus lies in progressing a unique therapy aimed at reversing brain vascular pathology associated with aging and neurodegenerative diseases. This pathology occurs when the brain's blood vessels become damaged and dysfunctional, leading to inflammation that contributes to disease outcomes. Interestingly, this vascular pathology serves as a biomarker for neurodegeneration and represents a patient segment that has never been treated before.
Aaron Friedman, commenting on the recent development, stated, “By addressing the underlying vascular problems that most patients inevitably face as they age, we are tackling the single greatest risk factor for developing neurodegenerative disease. We believe that this approach to rejuvenating the aging brain will not only be effective as a standalone therapy but also holds broader potential for promoting brain health and providing systemic benefits in a wide range of age-related diseases.”
